Got some questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
When do I have to pay the total amount for my stay ?
The outstanding balance of the Pitch stay can be paid in cash at the reception of the campsite up to 48 hours before leaving the campsite. Bungalow stays must be paid in full by bank transfer at least 2 weeks before arrival. This payment of the remainder of the outstanding balance is not affected in any way by the conditions of cancellation.
Can I bring my own Air-conditioning ?
We only allow the use of approved air conditioners. This includes any model built into the (auto) caravan. Portable machines tend to make more noise and use more electricity and therefore are not allowed if they cause inconvenience to neighbours.
Are there any pitches with individual toilet ?
There are 5 big toilet blocks strategically located throughout the campsite, so there is always one nearby.
Can I plug in the caravan (motor-home) to the water point ?
Yes, but only in the COMFORT PLUS and PREMIUM pitches that have a Gardena water-point and a gray water drain. Chemical toilets have to be emptied at the designated points in each toilet block.
Are the pitches well accessible ?
In any pitches (with one exception, the O-1639) there are no trees or other obstacles that impede the access. The pitches always go in pairs, separated from the adjoining by hedges. This way it is accessed through the transversal streets that in turn are accessed through the main streets. The staff help each of our clients to find and access their plot and, if the volume of work permits, accompanies them.
How many 100m2 pitches are on the Campsite ?
More than 1,000! That is the its majority. Only the STANDARD pitches in the O zone are smaller. They measure 75m2
How big is the size of the pitches ?
100m2 is the Pitch size in most of the campsite. That’s the size of all the COMFORT (CENTRO) , COMFORT PLUS and PREMIUM pitches. The STANDARD pitches measure 75m2. These sizes are not exact, but is a very good approximation. The distance between streets is always 20m, so all the pitches are 10m long. The difference is in the width between hedges so that in the case of the largest is 10m and in the STANDARD is 7.5m
Are there any special pitches for motor-homes ?
No. All pitches can be occupied with any type of camping; car- caravan, motorhome, tent or trailer tent. The camping unit is always included in the price of the plot.
Is there any shade on the Pitches ?
Camping las Dunas is located in an area of marshes that has few trees. In the areas closest to the beach (except for a small part of area F that has no trees) we have planted palm trees. The proximity to the sea negatively affects the development of deciduous trees. In the most remote areas we have planted trees, but many of them need to grow a few more years to provide shade. However, in zone H and streets 5 or 6 of zone B there are large trees that provide shade. Despite this Camping Las Dunas under no circumstances can guarantee shade.
How many amperes of electricity do I have ?
10 amperes in the COMFORT PLUS and PREMIUM pitches and 6 amperes in the COMFORT (CENTRO) and STANDARD pitches. The power of the electricity in watts is calculated with the formula Watts = volts x amps. Given that the voltage of the domestic network in Spain is around 220 volts (there can always be a small loss) so a 200w item will take just under 1 ampere, and a 1000w (1kw) = just over 4 amperes.
Why hasn’t the pitch that I requested been assigned to me ?
This can only happen if the requested pitch is not available for the requested dates. If two families request the same pitch for the same dates and their applications are received and entered on the same day, the family that has spent most years visiting the campsite will be allocated that pitch.
How many people are allowed per Pitch? And what do I do if coming with more people than allowed ?
6 people are allowed per pitch and no exceptions are made. If a family has more than 6 people, two pitches must be reserved. In this case it is allowed to use one of the plots as parking and sleep with the whole family on the other.
Can I reserve a specific Pitch number ?
Yes. Each Pitch at Camping Las Dunas has a specific number. With a few exceptions you can request any pitch but this is always subject to availability. In the reservation request you can indicate the desired pitches. In the pre-reservation you receive by e-mail, the number of the assigned pitch is shown. The pitch can then be checked on the campsite map BEFORE confirming the reservation.
Are all the facilities open and all services offered in the low season ?
Not all of them. The most important facilities such as the supermarket, the pool bar, the restaurant, the swimming pool, the entertainment and the toilets, open and close when the campsite does, but some “secondary” facilities and services such as Club XD and some beach bars open later.
Can I refill the camping gas canister?
No, but in the camping supermarket you can buy and exchange camping canisters. The first canister has to be bought and then, to change it, only the gas is paid for . You can bring bottles which have not been purchased at the campsite and change them. We have two measures, called “901” and “907”. In Spain it is not possible to recharge gas cannisters. In addition, the connection system is not compatible with the usual models in the rest of Europe.
Can I bring a trailer ?
Yes, and without any surcharge. If it doesn’t fit in your pitch, we have a specific area where to park it.
Can I use Barbecues or is there any specific area ?
The use of carbon and gas barbecues is allowed. Open fires are not allowed in the ground. Using the barbecue, you must have water by hand and the embers of the fire must be completely extinguished before disposing them in the garbage containers. The campsite does not have a picnic area or barbecue area.
When can I check in and when do I have to check out ?
Check-in time is from 14:00hrs on camping pitches and 17:00hrs in the Bungalows. It is allowed access to the camping from 08:00h and enjoy the campsite facilities. Check-out on Camping pitches is at 12:00hrs and at 10:00hrs in Bungalows.
Is there any unevenness on the Campsite ?
The campsite is completely flat.
When does the season start ?
We open from the middle of May until the middle of September. Dates change every year but we open on the Saturday before Pentecost, and close Friday after The Catalan national day –which is the 11th of September-.
Can I rent a fridge ?
Fridges can be rented from reception upon arrival which will be delivered by our partner’s company. Generally delivery is on the same day.
When Can I book for the next season ?
From autumn on. All requests are processed manually to provide the best customer service. The fact that specific pitches are confirmed greatly complicates this process and it takes up to 10 days to send the pre-reservation request at the beginning of the reservation period. Campers staying at the campsite can already submit their request through the official form at the reception during their holidays, although this will not be processed until the beginning of the reservation period. As a general rule, start date is October 1st.
Can I take my dog to the camping or the beach ?
We allowed dogs in some designated areas on the campsite. Specifically, in the zones E, J, F, G and some parts of zones K and O. Dogs must always be on a lead inside the campsite and they cannot be left without a supervision at any time even if they are on a lead. Obviously Spanish laws and regulations apply to breeds considered dangerous. Access with dogs to the beach is not and also can not be the responsibility of Camping las Dunas, since Spanish beaches are always public spaces where only the current municipal regulations apply. And in our case this regulation prohibits access with dogs to the beach of Sant Pere Pescador. Since 2017 a small beach for dogs has been set up in l’Escala.
Is there WIFI on the Campsite and in the Bungalows ?
With a unique project in the sector, we have started to equip the electric posts of the pitches with fiber optic LAN Network. The Wi-Fi router can be borrowed from the reception. Our bungalows (except the I-Ponents) are also equipped with an individual Wi-Fi Router. So you can enjoy a quick Internet connection during the holidays. The use of WIFI is included in the price of the bungalows; On the Pitches it has to be booked in advance or upon arrival. We also provide WIFI service covered by antennas on the rest of the campsite.
Is there a Pool on the Campsite ?
Yes. In 2015 we inaugurated Las Dunas Aquapark, the best pool on the Costa Brava! It has 5000m2 with two swimming pools, slides and a large solarium with sun loungers.
Are there any Pitches or bungalows with directly access to the seaside ?
Although Camping las Dunas is directly located to it, the dunes block the sea views from the campsite. At the same time they protect the campsite from wind and sand.
Can I receive visitors while at Las Dunas ?
Yes, every person who wants to enter to the campsite has to register at the reception, also those that are visiting. If the visit is 2 hours maximum, you will not be charged anything, but during this time you have to deposit a camping card or similar Identification card at the reception. If the visitor wants to spend more time you have to pay the current rate. Access to the campsite without registering is strictly prohibited and the surveillance staff controls the entrances.
Does the Pool access has to be paid for ?
No. Access to the pool is free for camping guests. Access is also restricted to camping guests. Access is not allowed to visitors that are not hosted at the campsite.
Is there any touristic TAX ?
Yes. Since 2012 in Catalonia, a tourist tax must be paid. Fee is € 0.50 per person / per night, with a maximum of 7 nights. That makes a maximum amount from € 3.50 per person and stay. It is only charged to clients over the age of 17 years. Children do not pay tourist tax.
What must I do if coming with two cars ?
The price of the pitch or the bungalow includes only one vehicle. An additional vehicle must be paid according to the current rate. A motorhome plus an additional vehicle is allowed on the same pitch without extra charge, although technically it is an additional vehicle.
Is the car included in the price ?
Yes. A vehicle is always included in the price of the overnight stay either for a pitch or in a bungalow. The vehicle must be parked on the same plot, the assigned parking or one of the parking spaces at the entrance of the campsite.
