Frequently asked questions
beaches
-
Is there surveillance at the campsite ?
Yes.
There are 24h/day surveillance guards and some surveillance cameras at the campsite’s entrance
-
Is fishing allowed ?
Yes, but a license is required. The licenses to fish with cane, both in the river and the sea, can be purchased at the fishing shop in l’Escala. However, to obtain a spearfishing permit you have to pass a series of tests.
-
Can I take my dog to the camping or the beach ?
We allowed dogs in some designated areas on the campsite. Specifically, in the zones E, J, F, G and some parts of zones K and O. Dogs must always be on a lead inside the campsite and they cannot be left without a supervision at any time even if they are on a lead. Obviously Spanish laws and regulations apply to breeds considered dangerous. Access with dogs to the beach is not and also can not be the responsibility of Camping las Dunas, since Spanish beaches are always public spaces where only the current municipal regulations apply. And in our case this regulation prohibits access with dogs to the beach of Sant Pere Pescador. Since 2017 a small beach for dogs has been set up in l’Escala.
-
Can I bring my own water scooter or boat ?
Yes. It is allowed to bring water scooters or boats to the campsite. However, we do not have specific facilities to access to the sea. Therefore you can only ente the water by a trailer that has to be pull by hand on the beach. Obviously it is only possible with light boats. To access the water with larger boats, you must use the payment facilities of the marinas in Sant Pere Pescador or l’Escala.
-
Is there any nude beach ?
In Spain, nudism is not prohibited by law on any beach, so there are no beaches specifically designated for nudism. However, for coexistence reasons, there are no naked people on the beach of Las Dunas. In the direction towards Sant Pere Pescador, there is an area called Cortal de la Vila which itself is considered as a nudist beach.
-
Is Beach access always open ?
Beach Access is closed in the night. On the high season one of the Accesses remains open and there is also a night guard.
-
Can I Access the beach/pool with a disabled child ?
Yes. In the Campsite we have “amphibious” wheelchairs. This chair has large air wheels to facilitate movement through the sand, and an aluminum structure to reduce weight. The use of chairs is free and must be reserved at the pool. With this chair a companion can take the disabled person into the sea. The pool can also be accessed with this chair by a ramp. Keep in mind that the person sitting in the chair cannot move himself and the assistance of a companion is mandatory.
-
Can wind/kite surf be practice on the Campsite’s beach ?
The Gulf of Roses is a well-known destination for windsurfers. At the height of Camping Las Dunas, windsurfing and sailing are allowed. To practice kitesurf there are designated areas, a short distance away, on the beaches of Les Botigues and Cinc Claus in Sant Pere Pescador, but in front of the campsite it is forbidden. On rare occasions, when the wind is favorable, you can surf. The calm state of the sea in the morning also gives ideal conditions for paddle-surfing. Surfers should always respect the swimming area and maintain a distance of 100m to the beach. In front of Camping las Dunas there are two access channels to the sea marked by buoys.
-
Is there much slope on the beach ?
The beach has a very gentle slope and is easy to enter the water. This is also safe for small children.
-
Is the Campsite beach a Pebbly beach or Sandy beach ?
Las Dunas beach is sandy and wide.
booking procedure
-
Why is the booking procedure for camping pitches as complicated as it is?
On Camping Las Dunas each guest books a specific pitch. To allocate the desired pitch (or the one that best meets the request) to as many guests as possible, each request is processed manually following some strict criteria that a computer cannot take into account.
-
According to which criteria are the pitches allocated?
At the start of the reservation period we receive a very large amount of booking request, for some areas and periods many more than we have pitches available. When allocating the available pitches preference is given to guests who have visited us the most seasons. However, the amount of seasons spent on a specific pitch is also taken into account. To be able to honour the maximum number of requests and optimize the occupation on each pitch in high season no more than one day between occupations is allowed.
-
How do we evaluate each client’s history or loyalty?
We can only take into account past visits registered in our system. Different holidays during the same season count as one stay.
-
Why are fewer years contemplated than I have actually visited the campsite?
There can be various motives. Only the visits of the booking holder are counted. Therefore, visits registered as someone else’s companion are not counted (e.g. with parents). The amount of previous visits might also be affected if a previous booking was made under a different name (even if it concerns the same family). We therefore recommend to always book under the same name and to facilitate your client number to avoid a new file being created.
-
What is the best way to obtain joining pitches together with my friends or family?
Each family has to make their own separate booking request in which they can indicate wanting to have a pitch next to another family. It is important to mention whether the requested area or the joining pitches are preferential: generally it is a lot easier to find joining pitches if we can consider different areas. Alternatively we might allocate pitches in the desired area that are not joining however. This is of particular importance when both families have different histories on Las Dunas. If a family with a long history wants a joining pitch with another family with less history in a very busy area, possibly the first family will get a pitch in that area, whereas the second family will get one in a different area.
-
How to increase the possibility of being allocated the desired pitch?
Request your booking at the start of the booking period. We recommend indicating the maximum flexibility in your travel dates. Often, just by arriving or departing a few days earlier or later, there are many more pitches available that meet your booking request. Nevertheless, due to a lack of availability, often we still have to find an alternative pitch. Therefore it is recommended to request, in order of preference, different pitches or, better even, areas to consider when looking for alternatives. In “observations” you can indicate specific preferences like “corner pitch”, “close to the toilet”, “facing the sea” etc…
-
Why does the system let me send a booking request for an area in which it turns out no pitches are available?
This might happen at the start of the booking period as a result of the way we allocate pitches. We do not limit the amount of available pitches to offer everyone the possibility to send a request for the desired area before the established deadline. For the most popular areas, inevitably, more requests are sent than we have pitches available. These are allocated according to clients’ history (loyalty). For those who we cannot allocate a pitch in the desired area, we search the closest alternative. Our proposal can always be declined since the booking request is non-binding.
